I Am Proudly A Christian Business Owner!
Time and again, I find that people tell me that I should not mix business and faith. Actually, what I am encouraged to do is to not mix “business and religion.” I have serious, serious problems with that for a number of reasons…but I’m not going to go into all of them in this article.
What I will do is share the three main reasons why faith is integral to what I do. These reasons are why I cannot ever avoid sharing my faith if it comes up…but I do want to make something else plain. I never talk about Christianity to aggravate others. I do it because my faith in Christ isn’t something I do. Being a believer in Christ is who I am.
Being A Christian In Business Is Something That Should Be Public Information
I don’t think that people recommend leaving faith out of the business equation because they are being spiteful. I think it’s because so many can be inappropriate and needlessly nasty in the way they share faith. I am not that way.
Being argumentative and purposely confrontational is prideful and rude. I don’t have the desire to convince anyone of anything…but at the same time, I’m not going to be forced to hide the One Who makes me who I am. I am proud to be a believer, and I have the right to share if I so choose.
Reason #1 Why I Will Never Hide The Fact That I Am A Christian
God made me! Why in the world would I keep it a secret that I believe in the Lord, the Father of Jesus Christ…the Giver of the precious Holy Spirit? Without Him, I would not even exist. I’m not ashamed of my earthly parents. I could never be ashamed of my heavenly Father either!
Reason #2 Why I Will Never Hide The Fact That I Am A Christian
The Lord, my God, has blessed me! In addition to salvation, God gave me the ability to build a home based business. He gave me my family. He allows me to have the ability to form words and communicate with others by both speaking and writing.
I am GRATEFUL to God for everything He has given…and thanking Him publicly when needed is simply the right thing to do! Expressing gratefulness is a foundational habit for all human beings…and I want to get the small things right where God is concerned.
Reason #3 Why I will Never Hide The Fact That I Am A Christian
It’s silly to edit out parts of who we are, and I choose to not be silly. The fact that I am a firm believer in God through Christ Jesus means that I take whatever I do in life VERY seriously. When I tell people that I am going to help them, I mean it. Of course, I have limitations, but I don’t allow those limitations to become excuses.
I go learn what I need to learn to help…and if I cannot figure it out, I go seek outside help. Being a Christian holds me to a higher level of accountability than I would have otherwise. I have to answer to the Keeper of my soul SO much more than I have to answer to any human being.
All my work here on earth has eternal value. Hiding my faith makes me less accountable.
I am Proud To Be A Christian!
I hope that you better understand why I won’t ever be quiet about the fact that I am a Christian. God paid way too much of a sacrifice for me to be silent about the fact that I am happily bought with the blood of His son, Jesus the Christ.
Scriptures for Reference
Matthew 10:24-33 (ESV)
“’A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven’.”
