Marshall Turned 74 Today!
Today was my Step-Father’s birthday. Marshall A. Isler, the man who showed my mother what true love was, finally, turned 74 years old yesterday.
I can’t really say enough about this man. Not only does he love my mom unconditionally, but he also gives to her in such a way that I know she is safe with him. Their marriage is not without issues, but there is love. Real love. Godly love.
Spending time with them is entirely too much fun. My family laughs and talks…and we truly enjoy one another. It’s my prayer that I grow in life the same way that they have grown…and that I do their legacy proud.
This is a picture of a man who loves his wife…
When People Find Love, They Are Changed From The Inside Out…
When my mom met Marshall, she was coming through a pretty nasty divorce from my father. Her heart was broken, and she really did not believe that she would ever find love again.
Until they divorced, I’d never understood what devastation looked like, but watching my mom recover from her marriage to my dad ending gave me a pretty clear picture. The first time that she and Marshall went out to eat, I saw a woman hopeful. It was the first time I’d ever seen her so giddy.
When my ex-husband and I married, I wanted to follow in Marshall and mom’s example.
They put God first, and everything else falls into place.
Our marriage celebration was beautiful…
Marshall Isler Is Not Perfect, But He Works Hard To Please God…
What I love the most about Marshall is that he is not a quitter. It doesn’t matter how difficult the obstacles are in front of him. He keeps moving forward with absolute faith in God. I also love that he is devoted to his family. His love for all of us is pretty amazing. I am blessed to have been born into my family…
…and “adopted” by someone as wonderful as Marshall A. Isler.
Now, let me make it plain that he is not perfect. I am not trying to paint some picture of my Step-Father that he is infallible and never makes mistakes. The picture I am trying to present is that he understands what it is to be a man…a real man. He takes it seriously, and he does not shirk his responsibilities in husbandry or fatherhood.
My baby is also his baby. He loves Deanna so much
and is the best grandfather a girl could have.
Marshall Isler Is A Godly Man
He’s the kind of elder that the Bible speaks of, and he gives me hope that manhood is not a dying breed. What is more amazing about Marshall is the fact that he is training young men every week on the way to be a man. Those guys love him to pieces…and they meet every, Monday night at his and my mom’s home, without fail.
Marshall is the kind of man to survey his surroundings
Carrabba’s Is His Birthday Restaurant, For Some Reason. LOL!
Every year, it seems we go to Carrabba’s. As a matter of fact, I am pretty sure that we DO go there every year for Marshall’s birthday. The above picture was taken in 2010 when Marshall turned 71 years old. Tonight, I took pictures AND a video, and I got the chance to hear him talk a little about manhood.
It was nice to listen to him talk about how things were when he was young.
I was also nice to catch my brother, Bryan, laughing and talking with his dad. Watching father and son interact was just…wonderful. I hope you enjoy the picture and video below this article.
It was great laughing and talking at Marshall’s birthday dinner…
